Twitter has definitely helped us with our marketing efforts AND our overall business here at Grasshopper. Yes, we use it to promote our latest blog posts and company news but more importantly, we use it to answer customer questions, deal with any issues they may be having and give customers important information about our service.  I can't say enough how great it is to be able to respond to customer problems and get them in touch with the right person within minutes.

We have also been able to acquire new customers on Twitter just by answering questions they post in regards to our industry. As a side note to that, our own customers have been so great in recommending us to people via Twitter.

Overall, Twitter has been a great medium in helping us with customer service, brand awareness and customer acquisition. You certainly can't complain abou that!

@casieg @grasshopper

Thank you very much for your interesting feedback.
You seem, like me, to be a strong supporter of Twitter – as an effective marketing tool in general as well as for its variety of uses.

I was particularly interested in: "As a side note to that, our own customers have been so great in recommending us to people via Twitter" – Twitter as a free word-of-mouth channel. Free word-of-mouth is, ultimately, and obviously, every marketer's dream goal. So Twitter, not just an effective marketing tool in general as well as for its variety of uses, but, also, for free word-of-mouth.

Twitter has been responsible for 90% of my clients successes with online marketing and search engine optimization.  It has been the single most valuable tool in my toolkit.  People who don't understand the concept or all of the benefits have a hard time seeing the value, but using properly for a month or two will show you that it's worth every second you spend using it.

Twitter is a free marketing tool.  When you use it properly- your business is getting free word of mouth advertising, that others can quickly and easily spread.  Using apps like link shortening tools such as bit.ly or twellow, you can track your followers, the clicks to your links, the traffic to your website and blog, and ultimately your ROI (with the investment being time.)

Twitter is a great tool to use to advertise special offers, coupons, contests, etc.  Your followers will love to share any kind of contest or coupons with their followers- so I highly recommend creating a "Twitter Special" and tweeting it.  You'd be amazed at the results!

It's certainly my favorite SEO tool and I use it with all of my clients.
