Today, definitely look at Facebook and Twitter–they seem to be the hottest social media outlets going. Also consider integrating social bookmarking, i.e. Digg, StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us.

Don't overlook the value of niche social communities. One good way to build up your reputation is to participate in forums targeted toward enthusiasts in your particular area of business. If you offer information and value to those passionate about the things you offer, your business reputation will grow. It's "word of mouth" writ on a global scale.
